Riley to EFY

Riley started EFY this week.  He went with one of his friends in the ward, Garrett.  They go Mon - Fri from 9 am to 9 pm.  It is the stay at home program at UVU institute.  Don't they look like the best looking boys.

Erika's new hair cut

Erika decided to cut her hair today, 8" total.  She is donating it to Kids with Cancer.  She has been talking about doing it for some time, but hasn't had the guts to do it, but today was it. She was said and upset about not having her long hair, but after all the compliments, it is growing on her.  She realized that she won't use as much shampoo, hairspray, and it will take her less time to blow dry and straighten.  She will be mailing the 8" this week, and then she will get a letter and T-shirt for her donation.

Cameron new calling in YSA Ward

Cameron was called to be the Elder's Quorum secretary in the YSA Ward.  He has been attending the YSA ward since January, so it is about time they have him doing something in the ward.  He already has many assignments, with sending emails, to making phone calls.  Congrats!!

Sharri & Riley Hike

We went on a hike with our good friend, Alice, to Rock Canyon Trail.  I was a great day for a hike.  Cool and breezy.  We went at 10 am and hiked for 1 hour and half, up rock canyon and up squaw peak trail.  We ended up hiking for a total of 3 hours.  Of course, Riley had to stop at all the water spots.  We didn't make it to the top of squaw peak, but it was a good hike.  When we returned home, our legs were really sore from hiking up and down the trail.  It was a good hike, but only once and while is good for us.  Thanks Alice for taking us on a great hike.

Cameron's new job

Cameron applied for a job at O'Reilly Auto Parts store for a delivery driver.  Today was his first day on the job.  He seems to like it and be on his own driving auto parts to various auto repairs shops around Orem and Utah County.  He is working full time hours during the summer, but will be part time when he starts back to UVU in August.  He is finally feeling like he contributing to the family income.  For now this part time job will do, until he gets some more schooling in to apply at what he really likes to do, COMPUTERS!!!

Brian & Riley Scout Camp - Goblin Valley

Brian & 3 other YM leaders took 11 young men to Goblin Valley (3 hours south of Provo) for a Scout Camp Overnight.  They left Thursday, May 31 and planned to stay until Saturday, because of the long drive.  On Friday night, after they had dinner, they saw a storm coming with high winds.  After many prayers and consideration for their safety, they decided to pack up camp and head home at 11 pm.  The boys tents were flying away and the sand was blowing all into the tents and equipment, to where it was going to be a big sand storm.  They all made it home by 2 am, full of sand and an experience to remember.  The many pictures show that Goblin Valley is a beautiful state park, with its high rock formations and the beautiful sunsets that surround it.  They may have to take another trip, when there isn't a sand storm coming.

Cameron Talk and Erika new calling in YSA Ward

Cameron was asked to give a talk in the YSA Ward that he and Erika attend now.  I believe this is his 4th talk since he has been home from his mission.  As always, he did a great job.  Also, during the same meeting, Erika was called to be the Choir Director and Music Chairman in the YSA Ward.  The new bishopric saw that her email is violingirl, so they figured that she was a music person.  She is nervous, because she has never lead a choir before, or even been in a choir, other than in the YSA ward.  She will do great.  It is amazing that Cameron and Erika are old enough to get real adult callings.  We are so proud of them.

We decided to take a quick trip to Cedar City to be with Justin and his family for his wedding.  Justin is the son of Brian's cousin, Wendy McDonald.  All the cousin's were there, except for Jennifer Ellen.  We all stayed at the same hotel, so we could play games and visit with each other.  We had breakfast with everyone, and then the kids went swimming at 10 am, which was weird, but they closed the pool at check out time and didn't reopen it until check in.  Then we all headed to Kingston to Ryan and Mandy's house to a family BBQ dinner.  We all were able to visit and take cat naps before we headed home on Saturday at 7 pm.  Riley was the only one that went with us, because Cameron and Erika were both sick and didn't want to make the drive.  It was good to be with family and visit with Chad and his family again.
