Well, Erika and Cortney made it back from Ephraim for EFY. They were tired, but happy and said it was so much fun. They had a company of 20 girls and 10 guys. They made many new friends and had some great classes with some great teachers. We are so glad that they had fun and want to go again. Maybe when they are older, they will want to be EFY counselors.
Hey everyone back home. I am here again writing you, and I always love it. Guess What? I got to go onto the military base here in Fort Worth and get on a jet. It was so awesome! We have a member, his name is Bro. Johnson. He is employed in the military and agreed to take us on base this morning and show us the jets. I got to be on a jet while it was turned on. It was so cool. I didn't get to actually sit inside the jet while it was on, but just to be on it and feel the power of it and see all the buttons and mechanisms in the plane is amazing! I am so surprised at how those people actually fly those. It is way cool. It was so cool to hear the engine and to actually be right next to one while it was turned on. I am sure Dad and Grandpa Doug will be very jealous. I know I said that I am tired of hearing the jets all day long, but it was cool to be right next to it and be on the aircraft while it was running!
Since Erika is at EFY all week, Riley and I decided to go and see a movie. We went to see Despicable Me in 3D. It was really nice, because there were only 10 other people in the theater. We had lunch first at the food court and then went to the movie. It was really funny and we will probably go see it again when Erika get back. It was a fun outing for the two of us.
Erika and Cortney drove down to Ephraim to Snow College for EFY (Especially for Youth). They went 3 years ago together at BYU when they were 14 and 15 years old. Since Erika was able to drive with her car, we sent them with driving instructions and they headed out at 9:30 am this morning. It is 1 1/2 hour drive. They had to check in at 11 am. They called at 11:30 am and said they made it without getting lost and checking into their dorm room. They both get their own rooms with 4 other girls their age. This is a special session for EFY. They only do it in Ephraim once a year. We heard that they might do a temple trip to the Manti Temple close by. They will be back on Saturday, which is 6 days total. Hopefully, since we sent them with camera's, that they will bring back some great pictures of their experience.
The Belcher Reunion is always around the 24th of July. Since Erika and Riley decided to spend the night with some friends in Salem, I decided to go by myself. We always have a breakfast at 9 am and then it is followed by some games that my Aunt Kay usually puts together. This year we played "Win it in a Minute." My mom had to stack as many apples as she could in a minute. My dad had to throw half filled water bottles onto a table and get them to land up right. I had to string penne pasta onto a spaghetti pasta that was in my mouth without using my hands and then my dad had to stack nuts onto themselves with a toothpick in his mouth and not using any hands either. My Aunt Jerrie took these great pictures. We all had a great time and some good laughs as well. Next year the Cabin will be done with flushing toilets and running water. It was great to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles. Wish the rest of the family could join us. See ya next year!!! |
The last couple of days have been in the high 90's outside. The kids were ready to cool off and go swimming. We have the opportunity to use the swimming pool at our friends work for free. The kids really like going swimming at this pool with the McGriff's. They spent over an hour swimming today and were so tired afterwards, but they had fun too.
Erika loves Jenny Oaks Baker, as a matter of fact she idols her. We found out that she was playing in a free concert tonight in American Fork, so her friend Katie and mom came with us. She was playing with the Temple Hill Symphony from Oakland CA. They were on tour for the last 3 days in Utah. We were able to get there early enough to get 4 row seats. It was an outdoor Ampitheater, which was amazing. Erika and Katie were glued to the music and her playing. She is an amazing violinist. The concert was about 1 hour and a half and then Jenny did autography signing afterwards. Erika and Katie were chicken to stand in line and get her autograph. Katie had made photo buttons to her and Erika to wear, but they thought that it was a stocking her and decided to not stand in line. What a perfect opportunity to have them signed, but we didn't force them and we were about to do it for them either. It was great to see her so close up and watch her play. What a great evening. Thanks for Katie and her mom to making us go.
Riley went with his scout troop to the On-Target Campout today and tomorrow. He climbed up halfway to campout overnight and the rest of saturday, they climbed to the top of Maple Mountain Peak. They used mirrors to signal other troops on different peaks from 11 am to 2 pm as well as 4 different stations in the city and on the lake. We went to signal him at 1 pm, but were to late, they had already left the peak for the climb down. He got home at around 4:30 pm saturday and had some much dirt in his shoes and socks. His comment was "That was the most brutal campout ever. I don't want to go again." He loves to go with the scouts and campout, but I guess this one was the hardest and the most hiking and packing he had ever done. The picture is of him and his friend Garrett, looking on to see how much farther they had to go. It was a 2 mile hike up and back and on a hot day too.
