To Park City

Since Grandma Holly & Grandpa Gary have their time share this week, the only day we could go and spend some time with them was tonight. We left straight from work and went to dinner at Baja and then Riley, Erika and Grandpa went swimming.  Brian, Grandma & myself stayed in the room and talked about indexing and did some as well.

Boating with Family @ Jordenelle

Need we say more.  We had a blast!!!  Thanks to Doug & his family for providing the boat and all the equipment to have a good time.  We did stop in the middle to eat dinner with Grandma & Grandpa, but then we went right back out until it was dark and cold.

Cool Moth/Butterfly

Tonight as we were headed inside the house, Erika and Riley spotted this moth on the side of our carport.  After last year for Erika's Zoology bug collecting fun, we are now fascinated by all the different kinds of bugs. We had never seen this type of moth, nor had Erika.  They immediately found their butterfly nets to catch it, so we could look at it closer.  The moth didn't like being catch, but eventually calmed down.  We took it to the McGriff's to show them, since they did the bug project too, then we let it go and it landed on the top of the carport.  Erika was sure that it was a moth, but it looked like a really cool butterfly to us.

Elder Brown update

I hope all is going good back home and that everyone is doing well. I have been doing great! Elder Proctor and I had 3 baptisms this past week. Two we had planned for quite a while now and one that just unexpectedly happened. So here is the story behind the 3rd one. Elder Proctor and I were teaching this young girl named Lauren who supposedly hasn't been baptized. At least her family says that, but the church records say otherwise. We think what happened is the Bishop, or whoever puts in the records accidentally put in her information into the system and she was never baptized. It was a long process to get this all figured out, but we did and we got her baptized. She was so happy and so were we. That is our miracle baptism for this week. Cool huh?
Well, other than that, it is WAY HOT! I cannot believe how hot it is. We have been over 100 for the past 20 days, or at least it feels like it. It is so hot, I am melting away, just kidding. I am doing whatever I can to stay cool.
I LOVE getting letters from back home. It brightens my day. It makes me so happy to know everyone back home is doing well and is happy.
Oh, transfers are coming up in one week from yesterday. So, I will be finding out where I will be going, if I am going, on Saturday. Then if I am leaving, I leave on Wednesday next week to my new area. I really hope I am staying. I don't like to be moved around. So, because of that, don't send me any mail unless it will get to me by next Tuesday. I will let you know in next weeks e-mail if I have been transferred and where I am and my address and my new companion's name.
Well, that is all for this week!  Hope I hear from you next week...

Young Women Swimming

My neighbor and I planned to have the Young Women go swimming at the apartments that she works at.  We had 13 young women, which is a record.  I guess they really wanted to go swimming.  They were great and had a good time together.  Here are some pictures of them enjoying it.

Erika @ Youth Conference

Erika & 8 other youth went to Youth Conference today.  They are planning to go to Salt Lake to the Church History Library and other church sites.  Then they will go to Park City to spend the night at Sister Hill's cabin and go to the Alpine Slide the next morning.  She took her camera with her, so hopefully she will take some great pictures.

Decorating Erika's room

I called Erika's friends, Peggy & Jared, and asked them if they wanted to decorate Erika's room while she was gone to Youth Conference.  Of course, they said YES.  They came over around 12 pm and I had bought balloons and streamers for them to put all over.  They did an awesome job.  Jared kept on saying that he was not creative enough to know what to do, but he did the TV and dresser.  They both wrote on her dry erase board so she would know who it was. She was so surprised, but wondered why they did it.  She later found out that it was my idea and not their's, so it wasn't as fun.  Dang, I should of deleted the text to them.  Oh well, it was a fun and fun for Erika's too.

Elder Brown update

First off let me say, IT'S HOT!!!! WOW! I want it to cool down. The overnight lows don't even get down below 75 degrees! That is just way too hot for me.  Well, now with that start to my e-mail this week I want to say that I am doing well and am trying to enjoy missionary work in this heat, but I am having a hard time since it is so hot.  Well, in missionary work. We have a baptism coming up this Saturday at 4 pm for a couple of kids named Adele and Shannon. We found them a couple of weeks ago and they have been coming to church and they really want to get baptized. Their mom is a member and hasn't been to church in over 6 years, but she is coming back to church with the kids. She is way cool. I will send you the pictures of the baptism next week. I do have a picture of our zone that I will be e-mailing home. We had zone conference yesterday and our mission president is Awesome. That's all I can say. I came out of zone conference with a ton of information. He is the coolest mission president ever!  Well, other than that, we haven't had any success with the Godfrey's. The couple that just got married. They are actually going to be moving here in a couple of weeks. It is sad, but we will send the missionaries over wherever they move to.  The Tankersley's are doing great. They are coming to church and they love it. They are a much happier family now that they have God back in their lives. They are just one happy family.  Well, Elder Proctor goes home in 2 weeks. He is way excited. I am excited as well. I am getting tired of him. I want a new companion. Not that he isn't a great companion, it's just I would like a new companion.  With that said I may be getting transferred here in 2 weeks. Transfers are on the 18th of August. So, I will be e-mailing you next week to tell you not to send me mail to my apartment address. I might be moving to a new place. I might not, just whatever the Lord wants.  Well, y'all that is all. Hopefully you have a good week, and I hope that I can make it to next P-Day. It is just so dang hot. I hate it.  Until next week!

Riley to Scout Camp in Scofield, UT

Riley headed out early this morning to go to Scout Camp in Scofield Utah. He will be there all week and will return on Saturday morning. Hopefully, he will be able to get 4 merit badges done while he is there. There are only 4 other boys going and two leaders. Thanks to Bro. Southern who have gotten them excited about going and taking the week off to be with them. I am sure he will come back with a couple shoes worth of dirt, but that's what scouts do.
